Our Photo Session in Barcelona, Spain // March 2020
After we booked our flights to Barcelona, the first thing I did was find a photographer. The last time we traveled out of the country we didn’t hire a professional photographer and I truly regret that because we came back from that trip with hardly any photos of us. So, I went on Instagram, found a photographer I liked, and book a 2-hour photo tour session for the day after we arrived. I was able to choose the locations of the tour, and I choose Arc de Triomf, Cathedral of Barcelona, park de la Ciutadella, and the streets of the Gothic Quarter.
When preparing/packing for our session I had a hard time choosing what to wear. I knew I wanted something that was cute (obviously), something colorful so that we would stand out against all the beautiful architecture, but also something somewhat warm, because it was in the 60’s, and lastly, something that I could wear comfy shoes with since we would be doing A LOT of walking….it was after all a walking photo tour. So I found the periwinkle dress 2 days before we left because I decided I didn’t like the dress I had originally planned to wear. Luckily, halfway through the tour, we were super close to our hotel, so our photographer suggested we change for a different for the other half of the photos and I actually prefer the more casual outfit (floral top and jeans and Allan’s sweater and jeans) because the colors photographed so well with the architecture!
Day one of our 6-day trip, which was the day before our session, 2 things went “wrong”. First I got a message from the photographer I hired saying she would not be able to photograph us due to an emergency. She recommended another photographer, but I was a little worried because the photographer she recommended wasn’t the style I usually prefer. Then, later that day, when we got to the hotel. I showered and got ready after our 8-hour flight, and when I plugged my curling iron in, the power in the whole hotel room (possibly the entire hotel) went out! Soooo I wasn’t able to use my curling iron the whole trip. But I was most worried about how I would curl my hair for the photos the nest day! Well, we bought a tiny little flat iron that I was kind of able to curl my hair with… not very well, but It’s whatever. And our photographer, Daria, was amazing! She was super friendly and easy to talk to, she knew her way around Barcelona so well, she’s super talented, and she even recommended places for us to go after the session. I love how the photos turned out! So in the end, it all worked out.
