Our Apartment

Funny story about this apartment, we actually never saw it in person before we moved across the country to live here.

Allan found it online, I reached out to them to ask what they had for availability and they had one unit that we were very interested in; a one bedroom with lots of light coming through the windows, original hardwood floors throughout the main living space, and a walk-in closet. We were sold. We needed to move in by the 15th of January because Allan was to start his job the 16th. The leasing associate said it wasn’t available until the 1st of February but she would check with occupant to see if there was any chance of him moving out early. Sure enough! They got back to us and said that we would be all set to move in on the 15th! Everything seemed to be falling in place, and this apartment seemed to be the perfect option! When we arrived January 15th, we signed the lease, they handed us the keys and we said “um… could you show us where our apartment is?”

Here we are almost 3 years later. Sir Douglas loves the long hallway that he gets to run in, I love how bright and open my office is while I’m working away all day, Allan loves the modern industrial feel and that we are right on the canal + downtown. This apartment has definitely made the transition from Wisconsin to Massachusetts a lot easier. We moved here with our bed and our table and bought everything else once we got here, to make this our home. We have had 16 different guests stay with us, we enjoyed 2 Christmas’ here with our 12 foot Christmas tree, we’ve been able to walk downtown to many festivals, my photos have been showcased in the apartment complex gallery, loft 27 has been very good to us… but now…. We are excited to make our very own house our home!! That’s right, TOMORROW WE WILL BE HOME OWNERS!!!! More on this tomorrow, so stay tuned for that!! In the meantime, here are a few photos of our apartment!

This is a photo I took with my phone… so it’s not the best, but I had to include it because this is Sir Douglas’ favorite part of the house! And Allan loves to tell all our guests that I took all the photos hanging on the wall :)

This bathroom is very large but has no linen closet, so I had to get creative with storage. I love how it turned out!

We definitely didn’t finish our bedroom the way I wanted. There is no light fixture in this room so we had to improvise… not the prettiest setup, haha. And we desperately need a bedframe and new bedding.
