Jordan & Astri's Wedding at Keller Golf Club // St Paul, MN
Astri & Jordan’s Romantic Wedding at Keller Golf Course | St. Paul, MN
Where do I even begin with this couple and their perfect wedding day? Well, First, I guess I should tell you how Astri and I met, because it’s kinda of a crazy story. I was in Nashville, TN on a business trip with Allan. Astri was there for her friends bachelorette party. My second cousin texted me saying he was going to propose to his girlfriend soon and wanted to know if I would photograph their wedding. His girlfriend was also a part of this bachelorette party. When he told me that his girlfriend was at a bachelorette party in Nashville, TN at the SAME TIME I was there, I asked if they needed a photographer and sure enough they contacted me about snapping some photos of the group! And that is when I met Astri for the first time. She lives in Minnesota, I live in Massachusetts, but thanks to social media, we kept in touch. I remember seeing her post about Jordan proposing and being over-the-moon excited for her. I didn’t know Jordan personally, but I knew how madly in love these two were (are) from seeing all their photos and posts online.
When Astri reached out about me photographing their wedding and engagement my face lit up and I think I even did a happy dance around my apartment. I’m sure there are so many options for photographers in MN, so the fact that they wanted me to fly there to be part of their day was such a huge honor.
Ok, now about their perfect wedding day. This day was so joyous, filled with laughter and tears of joy. There were so many precious, special moments. I’m just going to mention a few. Astri had a “first look” with both her parents which was really sweet. Jordan and Astri’s first look was magicical. They were so excited to see each other and Jordan went on and on about how amazing Astri looked, then they admired Jordan’s Whiskey sour socks. Golden hour portraits were PERFECT! We got the dreamy light I always hope for on a wedding day. During portraits I asked them if they had choreographed a dance and they said no, but then they impressed everyone with their swing dancing – it was seriously the cutest. Jordans twin brother/best man gave a really great speech which had everyone laughing. I got a little emotional as Astri and her father danced to “I loved her first” which was the same song I danced to with my Dad exactly 5 years ago. But what really got me were their vows. They both wrote the most heartfelt vows to each other and I’m going to share just a portion of them with you below.
Jordan: “I vow to love you as you deserve to be loved: with admiration, adoration, passion, pragmatism and respect, and to always treat you like the truly amazing person that you are. I love how cute you get when you get tired, how much you care about helping others, and especially how excited you are when you see a dog or baby or really anything that’s “cute”, so I’ll continue to point out every cute thing that I see to you. Even if you continue to repeatedly hit my arm in excitement to make sure I see it.”
Astri: “When I met you 6 years ago, I had no idea just how lucky I was. I didn’t just meet my future husband, but I met my best friend. When we first met, I knew there was something special about you. You were the most kind, smart, witty, charming, and funny man I had ever met – not to mention how cute you are. There are many moments that I wonder how I landed such an extraordinary person to have by my side.”
