Matthew & Annie's Dusty-Blue Lakeside Wedding in New Lisbon, WI
This Summer I had the great honor of flying back to my homeland, Wisconsin to photograph the most beautifully detailed lakeside wedding I have ever witnessed. When Matt and Annie connected with me about being their photographer for their “destination” wedding of sorts I was excited for multiple reasons; one - this would, of course, mean flying back to my hometown in Wisconsin and getting to visit my parents and grandparents for a little while, two – in the short amount of time I talked to Matt and Annie I quickly realized they are the sweetest couple ever, three – hearing them talk about the details of the wedding, which I will get to in a minute, the wedding would be held at the Bride’s families lake house in New Lisbon, WI. The ceremony on the beach and the reception outside under a tent. It sounded like an absolute dream…. and it was.
When my second photographer, Bridgette, and I arrived we were blown away as we walked around and noticed all the little details that made up this gorgeous wedding. From the beachside ceremony location behind the house, to the freshly picked wildflowers and handwritten wooden place holders under the tent reception, and let’s not forget the embroidered handkerchiefs they had for each guest as they arrived. It was amazing to see the plans and visions they discussed with me prior to this day come to life. I remember thinking how spectacular it sounded as they were describing what they wanted for their wedding, but I was even more blown away when I saw all the work that was put in to every single detail.
The sun was blazing and it was nearly 100 degrees for most of the day, until after the ceremony, when the clouds rolled in and we were able to capture all of the formal portraits before the pouring rain and heavy winds came. The winds were so strong that the tent almost blew away. All the guests went inside the Rumzis house, giving the bride and groom a chance to greet every guest as they walked inside. (I just have to say, thank goodness Fiorella of Niera Event Group was there to coordinate the day, she was quick on her feet and created a new plan when the storm came and she made sure every little detail was absolutely perfect.) The storm passed pretty quickly and everyone went back to the tent for dinner and dancing to the incredible dueling pianos. During the reception, Matt, Annie and I slipped away to take a few more photos of the two of them. I just have to say two things about Matt and Annie: One: they should be models. Two: The way the interact with each other and even the way they look at each other is insanely adorable. They are such a cute couple!!
Though the weather was insane, Matt & Annie stayed calm and happy as ever and their day was still so perfect and definitely very memorable!
