Jessica just opened her very own salon, The Beauty Lounge in Acton, Massachusetts! It is so cool to see the end result of someone’s hard work and determination. Her salon is absolutely gorgeous! So much natural light, the way she decorated and laid everything out, all of it was totally Instagram worthy. Between the beautiful salon and the gorgeous owner, I could have snapped photos there all day!

BEFORE THE SESSION:

After Jess booked and chose a date for her session, I sent her a questionnaire to get an idea of the feel of her brand and if there were any photos she was most interested in. She mentioned that she was excited about all 3 types of photos included in the session; Professional Headshots, Flat-lay/Products, and of course the lifestyle/her in action images. This being my very first branding session, it was so nice to hear that Jess loved the idea of the 3 types of photos. When coming up with this idea of branding sessions I put a lot of thought into what I believe a small business owner needs for images in a social media-driven world. People love to get to know the person they are hiring, and we tend to be attracted to beautiful, clean images and of course, a cohesive Instagram profile. Jess was already doing an awesome job of keeping her social media platforms consistent, so I wanted to just add to what she was already posting. Bright, clean photos with pops of pinks and greens, plus add some really pretty photos of her in several different outfits for variety.

DURING THE SESSION.

Jess had 2 friends stop by during her session so that we could capture some in-action photos of Jess doing her thing! From washing, drying, styling to taking photos of the finished look with her phone - we captured the whole process. We also made sure to get lots of photos of Jess alone; professional headshots and some fun ones playing with props such as hairspray and champagne (after all, this was a celebration of the grand opening of Beauty Lounge Acton!) Throughout the session I captured all the adorable details in the salon. Jess is a plant master so I got tons a great photos of all her beautiful plants. She will be able to use these photos on her instagram to breakup all the pretty hair photos and portraits. I also shot photos of the salon, products, and tools, which will also good for instagram, and will be really great for her to use on her website!
