Daniel & Jaclyn Forsyth Park Wedding // Savannah, GA
Last week, Allan and I had the privilege to fly to Savannah, GA to photograph the marriage of Jackie and Dan. You may be wondering how or why I was asked to photograph a wedding down south. Well, Jackie and Dan actually won a free engagement session from me last year. We had a blast at their session; there was so much laughter, lots of talk of comfy shoes and we were discussing their wedding which at the time they had planned to have in Massachusetts where they’re from. A few months later Jackie reached out and told me that they were moving to Indiana and decided they were going to have a destination wedding in Savannah, GA at Forsyth Park where they got engaged. They asked if I would be willing to travel and I said “heck yes!”
There are so many nice things I want to say about this couple and their families, I don’t know where to begin! The whole day, Jackie and Dan were so laid back and excited. Right before the first look, Jackie actually said “Am I supposed to feel nervous? Because I don’t at all. I’m just super excited and ready to do this!” The setting for their ceremony was absolutely gorgeous, under the moss covered trees and in front of the fountain where Dan proposed on the date two years ago. With their closest friends and family there to witness, they made their vows and walked down the aisle as husband and wife with bubbles flying. Dinner was at Vic’s, the cutest little restaurant on the river. Jackie and Dan insisted that Allan and I were there as guests, not as their photographers, so after parent dances and Jackie and Dan’s first dance as husband and wife, we sat at a table with Jackie’s family and enjoyed dinner. The food was amazing and the conversation was even better! Several things became very obvious to me on this day; one, Jackie and Dan have the biggest hearts and they get that from their families. Two, these two families had already become one even before the wedding. Three, if you tell Jackie she can’t do something, prepare to be proved wrong. Four, I really want to be good friends with Dan and Jackie and I’m sad they moved to Indiana. Five, these two are going to live a long, happy, exciting life together. And finally, six, Georgia is absolutely gorgeous, but it is freaking hot.
I’ll be honest, this wedding had its challenges with the heat and gnats, but Jackie and Dan stayed so positive and always had the biggest smiles on their faces. They were a joy to be around and I know I say this a lot, but it was an honor to be a part of their wedding day all the way in Georgia! Congratulations to the New Mr. & Mrs. Collins! I truly am so happy for you guys and I mean it when I say, you better text us the next time you’re in town!
