My Birthday Weekend in Portland, MA

A couple weekends ago Alland and I took a weekend trip to Portland, ME to celebrate my 24th birthday. This was one of the best birthday's I have ever had. It was an only an hour and a half drive! I am still so excited and amazed all the different scenery options that are around us. Ocean, city, mountains, it's amazing!

We started off the day meeting up with friends and enjoying lunch and drinks at a cafe on the bay. I forgot a memory card for camera for this, so there are no pictures from lunch, so you'll just have to take my word that it happened ;) We asked the waitress what she recommended we do in the area and she told us about headlight lighthouse; the most photographed lighthouse in the world! It was, without a doubt, a beautiful sight to see. Very good recommendation. Then we made a quick stop, on the way back to town, to eat yummy cupcakes from baristas + bites! (basically we did a lot of eating and drinking, because that's what every good birthday weekend is made of, right?) Guess what we did next? Ate some more! Apparently Maine is famous for it's blueberry pie, so we couldn't not share a piece! It was darn good! Then we walked around downtown a bit, went in some neat shops and later went to MJ's wine bar.

Day two, we had two options: go to the horse races or go to an island. We decide to go to the horse races and saved riding bikes on an island for when my best friend and her boyfriend visit next month! Even though I bet correctly all but one time on the races, I still ended up losing money...not sure how the happened. It was still so much fun though! Our last stop was impromptu, we were headed home but I wanted to stop at Old Orchard Beach, and I'm SO glad we did! The beach was so pretty and clean and there was an amusement park, too. We went on the ferris wheel, and played arcade games. Perfect ending to a perfect weekend. I can't wait to go back!

Now to plan Allan's Birthday weekend adventure, which is in just 2 weeks! Where are your must see spots in new england? Comment below!
