Matthew & Mayra // Milwaukee, WI Wedding
Matthew and Mayra; these high school sweethearts have been dating for 8 years and they tied the knot on May 6th! You can tell that they could not be happier to finally call each other Husband and Wife.
Their wedding was full of emotion, from the moment Mayra's parents walked her down the aisle to Matt and Mayra sharing their first dance as Mr. and Mrs. You could see on their faces that this was the day they had waited so long for and nothing else mattered to them. This, my friends, is the kind of love we all search for, and these two were blessed to find each other at a young age.
The ceremony was beautiful, in both English and Spanish, with a lot of Mexican traditions. Afterwards Matt, Mayra and their parents shed a few tears of joy, as I tried to hold back mine and capture the tender moment. After family photos inside the church, the bride and groom, along with their wedding party and I went to Greenfield Park, where Matt took Mayra on their first date 8 years (and one day) ago. This is also where we took their engagement photos back in the Fall. It was the perfect time to go to the park, with all the flowering trees in bloom and a field full of tiny wild flowers, which looked like a fairy tale; perfect for Mr. and Mrs. Bartell's fairy tale wedding!
One of the reasons Matt and Mayra are so dear to my heart is because I too married my high school sweetheart and he also has Mexican heritage. Thank you, Matt and Mayra, for allowing me the privilege of capturing the joy of your special day! (And, I even got to practice the little Spanish I know; thanks for that too! :) )
After the ceremony it was lots of hugs and happy tears.
This field was a dream!! Doesn't Mayra look like a princess?
The Reception details were so sweet, including pictures from their engagement session and a candy bar with their favorite candy! And their cake topper was so perfect, because as I mentioned before, they have been together for 8 years.
